LocalGovDigital Live is a series of monthly online get-togethers, where people in and around local government digital design, data and technology can get up to speed on the latest developments in the sector and hear what cool stuff other councils are up to.
It takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at 11am, runs for an hour, and is hosted on Zoom.
You can sign up to each session using the links on this page – doing so means you can easily add them to your work calendar, so you don’t forget them!
The running order for each session will be:
- News and updates from LocalGovDigtial and around the sector
- A show and tell from a council, with questions and answers to follow
- Discussions within the group – sharing challenges and potential solutions
Details of what will be happening at each session will be shared on this page closer to the event!
Who can take part?
Anyone with a genuine interest in learning from and contributing to the community. However, please leave any commercial interests at the door before you come in.
You don’t have to be a member of LocalGovDigital, but we encourage you to join!
Next session
The next LocalGovDigital Live! will be taking place on Tuesday May 7th, at 11am for an hour.
“Going beyond static content and Forms.“
Can we combine data from APIs with modern development approaches, to deliver personalised, data driven content and new level of customer experience. Our content lives in a CMS and our interactivity lives in a forms platform, and by blurring the line between the two we can embed discrete interactivity into our websites quickly and easily. Additionally, we’ll look at innovative approaches to forms and bookings as well as geographically biased address search, and tools and techniques which we might all be able to learn something from. If you are a techie and like to peek behind the curtain and see how things really work, then you love Tom’s in-depth demonstration. If you are a digital innovator or leader, then you’ll love the ideas, clarity of the explanations and the focus on delivering value to customers.
Our session in May is presented by Tom Styles, who straddles several interesting Local Gov Digital fields. Part strategist, part service designer, part tech architect, low-code enthusiast, and occasional code wrangler, Tom has a rich history of delivering successful digital solutions in his 16 years at Nottinghamshire County Council where he championed agile, Devops, and a collaborative delivery approach. He also talks nicely and makes good slides.
Since setting up Tailwind Digital in April 2021 Tom has been working with several different authorities and in this session will be demonstrating some of the interesting services he’s delivered for Mid Ulster District Council in Northern Ireland.
