Next steps for the Digital Service Standard

The consultation on the draft Local Government Digital Service Standard closed on 19 March, and the Standard Steering Group are now looking through all the comments and feedback which were submitted. We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who took time to let us know their views.

We anticipate the Standard will be published during the first week of April, and for many this will be the start of a process of getting it adopted in their organisation. To assist with this we will establish regional peer groups for officers in nearby councils to offer help and advice to their local government colleagues. 

Councils work at different speeds and are at different stages in their digital journey, but we envisage that by September 2016 a core set of councils will have adopted the Standard. In the autumn we plan to hold a summit for those councils who have adopted the Standard and are leading the way in public sector digital service delivery.
